DSAL to hold job-matching session for bank sector

A job-matching session that will offer 82 types of job with 235 vacancies in the banking sector will be held between August 29 to 30 at MGM Macau.

Co-organized by the Labour Affair Bureau (DSAL), the Macau Association of Banks (ABM), Macao Federation of Trade Unions and 18 local banks, the types of jobs include teller, clerk, account manager, market analyst, IT specialist, finance and credit specialist.

During the two-day session, two lectures will be held per day about the developing position of the Macau finance industry in the Greater Bay Area, and discussing the demand for young people in the Macau bank industry. 

In addition to these two lectures, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions will also dispatch professional staff to introduce two workshops including a skills workshop for job interviews.

Participants are required to make appointments through the DSAL website.

Job vacancies in the Financial Activities sector have increased by 73 year-on-year to 347, with vacancies in the Banking Sector (287) and Insurance (32) rising by 58 and 9, respectively, in the first quarter of the year, according to official data.

The number of full-time employees in Financial Activities increased by 96 year-on-year to 8,292 during the first quarter of the year. 

The general unemployment rate was 3.7% and the unemployment rate of local residents was 4.8%, up by 0.3 and 0.4 percentage points, respectively, from the previous period (March-May 2022). 

The figures are reaching record highs amid the pandemic crisis that the city has battled, as well as strict Covid policies that have taken a toll on the city’s gaming and tourism sector. Staff reporter
