The Urawa Reds beat Tokushima Vortis 2-0 and widened its lead in the J-League standings to four points over Sagan Tosu, which lost 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale yesterday.
Tomoaki Makino opened the scoring for Urawa in the 13th minute with a left-footed shot from close range, and Shinzo Koroki doubled the advantage 10 minutes after the break as Urawa set a J-League record for seven consecutive games without conceding a goal.
Kyohei Noborizato scored in the 62nd minute for third-place Kawasaki.
In other matches, Hiroyuki Abe and Kotaro Omori scored in the first half and Brazilians Patric and Lins added goals after the break as Gamba Osaka thrashed Shimizu S-Pulse 4-0, while defending champion Sanfrecce Hiroshima trounced Kashiwa Reysol 5-2. Ventforet Kofu and Cerezo Osaka finished 0-0.
Fourth-place Kashima Antlers twice led through goals from Davi and Caio, but were held to 2-2 by lowly Omiya Ardija.
Former J-League player of the year Leandro Domingues scored in the second minute of stoppage time, earning his new team Nagoya Grampus a 3-3 draw away to Vegalta Sendai.
Yoshinori Muto scored in the 17th minute as FC Tokyo beat Albirex Niigata 1-0, while Vissel Kobe and Yokohama F Marinos finished 1-1.
