The teaching materials on National Security Education that the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) has been preparing in collaboration with other organizations should arrive at local schools in time for the start of the academic year 2024/2025, the DSEDJ said in response to a written inquiry from lawmaker Ho Ion Sang.
As previously explained, the materials are intended to be used across all education levels, from primary to tertiary education.
The DSEDJ said that the local education authority has a role as a supporting unit for the “Greater Bay Area Chinese Studies Core Curriculum Teacher Development Plan.” This plan encourages teaching staff to participate in annual themed training courses and coordinates activities promoting traditional Chinese culture and relevant national topics.
Included among these activities are parent-child experiences and promotional events themed around the concepts of “peace” and a “harmonious community.” According to DSEDJ, these activities aim to deepen students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture across various levels and cultivate a spirit of patriotism towards the country and Macau.
