The Cultural Development Fund (FDC) initiated a total of 11 funding plans and approved a total of 1,762 activities and projects in 2023. The overall amount granted for these projects amounted to MOP197 million.
The FDC has issued a report on the funding applications and monitoring work carried out in 2023 in the areas of culture and art, cultural industries, and cultural heritage protection.
Within the cultural industry sector, 26 projects have been successfully completed, with a total investment of MOP108 million.
From these investments, 34% consisted of fund subsidies, resulting in the creation of 234 job opportunities. Among these projects, four managed to generate profits, while 22 experienced losses. The FDC has reported that, in terms of project outcomes, some of the completed projects were able to sell over 30,000 units of their own branded clothing during the two-year funding period, successfully entering the Thai market. Additionally, certain projects organized exhibitions at the Macau Science Center, attracting approximately 300,000 visitors.
In the realm of culture and art, the FDC has followed up on 585 completed cultural activities and projects. Furthermore, a total of 2,825 cultural activities were organized, serving over 31,000 individuals and reaching an audience of 548,000 people, according to its data.
