Macau has unveiled its first “twin-destination” terminal, offering a one-stop shop for passengers traveling between Hong Kong and Zhuhai airports.
The new terminal, located in the main entrance of the The Venetian Hotel, allows travelers to check-in, purchase bus tickets, and access shuttle services all in one convenient location.
“The opening of the ‘twin-destination’ terminal will provide Macau residents and international passengers with convenient travel options and experience air and land combined transport, integrated and efficient convenient twin-destination transportation system,” said Chan Man Yu, deputy general manager of the Hong Kong and Macau Airport Passenger Transport Service Company, as quoted in a TDM report.
The terminal has been in trial operation and is already serving over 50 passengers per day on average. Authorities expect the number of users to continue increasing after the official opening and enhanced promotion.
While the terminal currently offers check-in, flight information, bus ticket sales, and shuttle services, Chen noted that the company may explore adding baggage check-in services in the future, depending on the operation’s situation.
The new terminal is part of Macau’s efforts to integrate its transportation system with those of neighboring Hong Kong and Zhuhai.
The government has previously expressed its commitment to “destination branding towards a new diversity of market segments, including boosting twin-destination tourism to both cities and tourist spending in Macau.” Staff Reporter
