Subsidies for non-higher education teachers increase 3%

The allowance for professional development and the direct allowance for non-higher education teachers will see an increase of approximately 3% in the upcoming academic year, as cited in the Official Gazette. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Elsie Ao Ieong, has announced that the updated subsidy tables will come into effect on September 1, benefiting both public and private non-higher education teachers regardless of their academic qualifications or pedagogical training. For instance, a teacher with a degree and pedagogical training will now receive 6,500 patacas per month, while a teacher without a higher education qualification or pedagogical training will receive 3,100 patacas per month following this adjustment.
