Centenary of first flight from Portugal to Macau celebrated this week

This week, a Portuguese delegation is visiting Macau and Hong Kong to celebrate the centenary of the first flight between Portugal and Macau. In 1924, pioneering aviators Brito Paes, Sarmento de Beires, and Manuel Gouveia made a daring flight from Vila Nova de Milfontes in Portugal to Macau, a journey that began on April 7 and ended on June 20. The celebrations are part of the “June – Month of Portugal in Macau” program. The delegation will participate in a series of activities, including conferences, the presentation of a book titled “From Portugal to Macau – Pátria Flight,” the inauguration of a traveling exhibition “Portugal in the Flying Adventure,” and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
