Financial reserve drops for first time since October

Macau’s financial reserve totaled MOP595.443 billion at the end of April, down MOP1.347 billion from March. This marks the first monthly decrease in the reserve since October 2023. The reserve has generated MOP10.186 billion in revenue from investments since January. The basic reserve, which covers 150% of appropriations for central services, was MOP153.394 billion. The extraordinary reserve, comprising remaining balances, totaled MOP431.862 billion. The financial reserve peaked in February 2021 at MOP663.564 billion. The dip indicates fiscal pressures after two years of pandemic-related restrictions.
