Hong Kong to welcome new giant pandas

Hong Kong will soon receive a new pair of giant pandas as a present from the central government to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the region’s establishment. The special administrative region’s chief executive, John Lee Ka-chiu, made the announcement during a reception earlier this week. The pandas are expected to arrive in Hong Kong in a few months and will be housed at Ocean Park, joining the two previous gifts from the central government, Ying Ying and Le Le. Lee emphasized that this gesture demonstrates the nation’s care and support for Hong Kong, especially as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
