Man busted for transporting drugs from Hong Kong

A 43-year-old local has been apprehended for allegedly purchasing narcotics in Hong Kong and transporting them back to Macau. Law enforcement officials confiscated 6.02 grams of methamphetamine, valued at approximately MOP18,000 on the blackmarket, according to the Judiciary Police yesterday. The detained individual identified himself as a professional driver. Following a tip-off, authorities suspected that an individual was traveling to Hong Kong to procure drugs and then smuggling them into Macau for distribution. Subsequent investigations led to the identification of the suspect. He was intercepted at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge port at 7 p.m. on July 9.
