Consumer prices rose 0.82% in July compared to the same month last year, government data shows. While prices for education, miscellaneous goods and health increased notably from July 2023, transport and household furnishings costs declined over the same period. The composite consumer price index climbed 0.24% month-over-month in July on stronger gains for recreation and culture as well as transport costs. Food prices fell in July versus June amid lower fruit costs. For the past 12 months, consumer prices were up an average 1.02% from the prior period, led by education, recreation and clothing.
