The World Health Organization (WHO) hosted a consultation meeting from Aug. 28 to Aug. 29 in Seoul, South Korea to discuss the draft of the “WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–34.” Over 50 representatives from 20 member countries participated, focusing on integrating traditional medicine into health systems. Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala, WHO’s regional director, emphasized the role of traditional medicine in addressing health challenges exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Macau’s World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine director Mo Hui, amongst other representatives from Macau, highlighted advancements in regulatory frameworks for traditional Chinese medicine. The finalized strategy will be presented at the 78th World Health Assembly in 2025.
