The Court of Final Instance (TUI) has officially confirmed the electoral results that will see Sam Hou Fai become Macau’s next Chief Executive (CE), according to a statement from the office of the TUI president.
During the designated statutory period, no judicial appeals were lodged regarding the election results.
The results were validated by Judge Choi Mou Pan, currently the most senior judge of the Court of Second Instance due to the absence of TUI judges. This occurred due to Sam stepping down as TUI president, along with the impediment of Judge Song Man Lei, who has chaired the Chief Executive Electoral Affairs Committee, and the unavailability of the third judge, José Maria Dias Azedo, who was out of Macau on official duty.
The proclamation of the election results will be officially published Monday, Oct. 21, in the government’s official gazette.
Before Sam can assume office as the new CE, the central government authorities must formally recognize his election and appoint him for the post. RM
