Taxi fleet expands, adds seven new companies

The Transport Bureau has announced a significant expansion of the city’s taxi industry, with the addition of seven new taxi companies now in operation. This move comes as the bureau prepares to put 500 new taxi units into service by January. Macau currently has nearly 1,650 taxis in operation. The 10 new eight-year taxi licenses awarded will require these additional 500 units to be put into service by January at the latest. The bureau said it will continue to promote the operation of the 10 awarded companies, while the remaining three new taxi companies are also ramping up preparations.
