To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China, complimentary ferry rides were offered Dec. 23 between the Inner Harbour, Zhuhai and Wan Chai. Additionally, local bus fares were waived Dec. 20, along with fares for eight sea cruises.
The ferry service commenced 9 a.m., drawing large crowds at the Inner Harbour Pier eager to take advantage of the offer.
“We organized a group of ten to take the ferry to have lunch in Wan Chai,” said one older passenger, who expressed hope for more such opportunities.
Mainland tourists also seized the chance to enjoy free rides.
One family visiting Macau for the first time said, “It’s convenient to travel between the mainland and Macau, and these free rides benefit everyone.”
Another local echoed this sentiment, adding, “I hope there will be more discounts to attract more people to Macau.”
Along with the ferry service, Yuetong Shipping launched eight free sea cruises Dec. 22 and 23 to commemorate the anniversary.
Departing from A-Ma Pier, each 1.5-hour voyage took passengers to the Science Museum before returning.
Due to high demand, the shipping company increased the number of cruises from five to eight, distributing 160 tickets. NS
