35 cases of illegal tour guiding in 2024

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) reported receiving 35 complaints about illegal tour guide activities in 2024. The government conducted joint inspections, resulting in reports against 17 suspected illegal guides. Provisional data indicates over 34.9 million tourists visited Macau last year. In response to this influx, the MGTO continues to monitor the tourism industry and collaborate with other departments to combat illegal activities disrupting the market. Last year, the MGTO carried out 1,615 inspections at entry and exit ports, tourist attractions, and shopping areas to ensure orderly tourism operations.
