A citizen protested at the Trasport Bureau yesterday concerning the death of his daughter, who was run over by a casino shuttle bus three years ago. The father, accompanied by grassroot civil groups including the Macau Workers’ Self-Support Association, criticized the authorities for “inadequate supervision over cross-border drivers” and demanded justice.
The father had sued the shuttle bus driver for “involuntary manslaughter,” but the court found that there was not enough evidence to support the evidence. The petitioners alleged that the victim’s death was due to the government “providing drivers from the mainland with special licenses to drive casino shuttle buses over the boundary,” and thus stressed their opposition to hiring migrant workers as professional drivers.
