Two grassroots groups protest outside CEM building
Members from two local grassroots organizations, the “Macau Bar-bending Union” and the “Siyi folk league”, protested outside CEM headquarters yesterday afternoon. Participants called for “reasonable compensation” from the utility company to the public due to a series of power station-related incidents over the past few months. “CEM: collusive with the government, monopolistic, overcharging, lousy equipment and low efficiency!” repeatedly chanted Wong Wai Man, president of the first group, through a megaphone at the building’s entrance. The two groups also expressed discontent with the company’s prices, describing them as “extortion” and “deception.”
