The Macau Foundation granted subsidies to individuals and private entities worth over MOP266 million throughout this year’s first quarter, according to yesterday’s Official Gazette (BO). This represents an increase of more than MOP112 million compared to the same period last year.
Over MOP22 million – the largest subsidy – went to the Macao Federation of Trade Unions for its annual plan (including its 26 affiliates and eight service centers). The second-largest grant (over MOP17 million) was given to the Women’s General Association of Macau. Over MOP17 million was also granted to the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (Kai Fong).
Over MOP15 million was conferred to the Catholic Foundation for Higher Education as a financial aid to support the University of Saint Joseph’s activity plan for the 2014/2015 school year.
About MOP14.5 million was granted to Caritas Macau, mainly to cover elderly community care. In addition, about MOP11.7 million went to the Macau Institution of People’s Alliance.
Over MOP14 million was granted in special merit scholarships.
During last year’s first quarter, the largest subsidy (over MOP27 million) was accorded to the Macau University of Science and Technology Foundation.
The Macau Basic Law Promotion Association was granted MOP3.3 million, and the House of Portugal (Casa de Portugal) was granted MOP5 million. The Macanese Association received MOP1.1 million.
