The first quarter of the year has seen a total of MOP13.36 billion spent in non-gaming consumption by inbound visitors.
The amount slipped by 16.2 percent from the MOP15.95 billion spent in the same period of last year.
Overnight visitors’ spending reached MOP10.40 billion, also down by 21.1 percent compared to last year.
However, same-day visitors’ spending rose by 6.7 percent to MOP2.96 billion. It was reported that, of the tourists visiting on long-haul trips, visitors from the United Kingdom have relatively high per-capita spending, with the amount rising exponentially by 32.3 percent year-on-year.
Tourists from Asian countries were said to be tighter with their money, as spending by those from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong has seen a decrease. Around 88.6 percent of visiting hotel-users were satisfied with the amenities inside hotels, while 13.4 percent were not satisfied with the local public transport.
