Student arrested for alleged child sexual assault

A 19-year old male secondary school student has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 9-year- old boy at school.
According to the Judiciary Police (PJ), the suspect and victim attend the same school in the North District. They became acquainted with each other during after-school football activities when the former was serving as a teaching assistant. After gaining the young boy’s trust, the suspect apparently conducted significant sexual activities with him in a school toilet twice in April and May.
The behavior was revealed and reported by a teacher last Saturday when the two students were found topless in the toilet. The suspect has since been transferred to the procuratorate and will be charged with the crime of sexual assault of a child. The PJ also informed the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the case and has appealed to parents to communicate more with children and teach them correct sexual behaviours and values.
