The Public Security Police (PSP) have handed a taxi driver to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) after he was alleged to have stolen a laptop left behind by a female passenger on July 14.
The local female victim went to a PSP station and claimed that she had left behind a laptop in a taxi, which she believed the taxi driver to have taken.
The woman in her early 20s got into a black taxi at the Macau International Airport and asked to be taken to Rua de Pedro Nolasco da Silva.
After she arrived at her destination, the victim gave the driver MOP100 for the MOP60 fare and waited for him to give her the change after she got out of the taxi. Nevertheless, instead of handing her the change, the driver took off and left the scene.
The victim remembered that she had left a laptop, worth MOP5,000, on the back seat of the taxi. She suspected that the driver deliberately drove off quickly, knowing that the laptop was still in the vehicle.
Although the victim failed to record the license plate of the taxi, PSP has successfully located the taxi through the woman’s witness statement and other evidence.
The authorities then called a suspect to the station for investigation. The driver claimed that, after dropping off the victim, he had taken another two passengers before discovering the laptop. He has admitted to taking the computer out of greed.
PSP officers later found the laptop in the living room of the suspect’s apartment. He has been handed to the MP.
Separately, a man has been detained on allegations of intimidation after he was accused of threatening to kill his ex-partner.
Both the detained man and woman are not locals. The man claimed that he was unemployed, while the woman claimed she was working as a data entry clerk.
Information suggested that an argument took place in a restaurant in the afternoon of August 4. PSP found a man and a woman at the scene. The man claimed that the woman had taken his child with her after knowing another man. Therefore, he was arguing with the woman.
However, the woman alleged that the man threatened her with the words, “I am going to kill you.” The man admitted to having said the words, but denied harming the woman.
