Macau Sailing has announced that its historic sailing junk is now available for bookings for private cruises departing Macau. The boat is the one of the oldest, and the last of its kind still in operation in the Pearl River Delta region.
The vessel, with a capacity of up to 40 guests, “is the perfect venue for a special event, or can offer an exotic background for corporate team building activities,” the organization wrote in a statement.
They will offer full-day and half-day tours of the Macau Harbor and neighboring islands, and provide a variety of on-board catering services.
“We offer patrons a return to the bygone era of old sailing junks in southern China,” the organization wrote, where “guests can enjoy the unique delight of cruising Macau’s coastal waters under full sail and in the hands of an experienced crew.”
Macau Sailing adds that guests can even learn how to hoist and operate the sails themselves, as well as having the option to be trained in how to spot Chinese white dolphins.
The junk was built in Macau’s historic Coloane shipyards half a century ago. It recently underwent a general restoration, but retains its original materials and traditional sailing equipment.
Macau Sailing is a local sailboat charter service and sailing tour company, created to serve boat and sea lovers in Macau and the wider Pearl River Delta region. Additionally, Macau Sailing aims to help grow a strong sailing team to help improve Macau’s participation in international competitions.
