Since it launched in 2015, Sands China’s Local Small, Medium and Micro Suppliers Support Programme’s expenditure on local, small- and medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) suppliers amounts to MOP5.5 billion, the gaming operator announced in a statement yesterday.
Sands China has already spent nearly MOP1.7 billion on purchases from local small- and medium-sized enterprises as of the third quarter of 2017, accounting for 21 percent of the company’s total purchase amount.
Nearly 50 percent of that amount (MOP829 million) has benefited the three types of local enterprises targeted by the Local Supplier Support Programme – the small and micro companies, “Made-in-Macao” companies, and Macao young entrepreneurs.
In 2016, Sands China cooperated with 294 entities from the three local business types, increasing the number to 340 in 2017.
“The company is particularly pleased to see local enterprises expanding their business opportunities as a result of the programme, and we wish for continued success for our local SME suppliers,” said Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd.
