The Buzz | Benfica Macau trashes Taiwanese team 4-1 in Taipei

Benfica de Macau last night beat Taiwanese team Hang Yuen FC 4-1 at the Taipei Municipal Stadium in the second leg of the Asia Football Confederation (AFC) Cup group stage.

The local club opened the score with a potent kick by Nicholas Torrão at minute 10, but the Taiwan side leveled 8 minutes later with Ching- hsuan Chen. In a very disputed first-half Benfica scored again with an own-goal by a Taiwanese defender to take over the leadership of the match until the final whistle, scoring two goals in the second half by Edgar Teixeira (76 min) and, again, by Torrão (88 min).

Benfica won the first leg match last month at the Macau Olympic Stadium in Taipa 3-2 in a nerve-racking match that saw the Macau side fall behind 0-2 by half-time. Benfica is placed second in Group I of the AFC Cup. Only the first team of each group advances to the knock-out phase.
