Briefs | Mobile base station at Border Gate busted

The Judiciary Police (PJ), in collaboration with the Public Security Department of Zhuhai and the Macau Bureau of Telecommunications Regulation, launched an operation against a fake mobile base station at the Border Gate district yesterday, taking four men into custody. The authorities said that this is the first time they have launched a crackdown on this type of bogus base station. The structure was located in the residential building Jardim do Mar do Sul opposite the Border Gate checkpoint. A PJ spokesperson said that the men were hired by some groups to operate frequency simulators and interfere with the mobile signals received by those who are arriving at or departing from Macau.

PSP catches 37 illegal workers

The Public Security Police (PSP) has found 37 people who were alleged to be working illegally decorating a hotel in NAPE yesterday. PSP information suggested that officers carried out an inspection in a hotel located at the intersection of Rua de Goa and Rua de Kunming at around 10 a.m. yesterday morning. They found 25 people who were working there without proper paperwork. Officers also discovered that 12 Vietnamese nationals working at the site had breached the conditions of their work permits. Authorities estimated that these 37  were hired with a daily wage of MOP300 to MOP600 to clean up waste material.
