Local football club MUST Chao Pak Kei (MUST CPK) bid farewell to the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup campaign, defeating Taiwan’s Tainan City FC 4-1 at home on Thursday evening.
Despite five losses in five games, the local team had an amazing Matchday 6 at Taipa’s Olympic Stadium, defeating the Taiwanese side thanks to four goals from Nicholas Torrão at minutes 39, 62, 76, and 78.
Tainan City managed a single goal courtesy of Chen Wei-jen at the 82nd minute, bringing the final score to 4-1.
This win added an unexpected twist to Group I’s conclusion.
Before the match, it appeared Tainan City FC would defeat MUST CPK and advance to the next stage, as Mongolia’s FC Ulaanbaatar had won 2-1 over Taichung Futuro FC.
However, Taichung Futuro FC defeated FC Ulaanbaatar, although both finished with 12 points.
The two will progress to the knockout stage, with the draw held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Dec. 28. RM
