Central government approves Hengqin Border Macau Section

The State Council of the People’s Republic of China has approved the opening of the Macau section of the Hengqin Border checkpoint and certain related sections. These areas will be administered under Macau laws. These places have an area of over 100,000 square meters. Three sections of the total area were opened on April 20, including certain vehicle passage lanes and parts of the Lotus Bridge originally under mainland administration. The fourth section will be the bridge connecting the University of Macau and mainland China.
