China is leading importer of Angolan goods

Maersk Triple E Ship Arrives In Hong KongChina was the main importer of Angolan products in the third quarter of 2014, according to figures issued in Luanda by the Angolan National Statistics Institute. Portugal, for its part, was the main exporter of products to Angola in the same period.
In this period, China accounted for 49.5 percent of all Angolan exports, followed by Spain with 6.2 percent, India with 5.6 percent, the United States of America with 5.5 percent and France with 5.1 percent.
With regard to imports, Angola’s main trading partner was Portugal with 14.7 percent of the total, then China with 12.6 percent, Singapore with 11.4 percent, the United States of America with 8.8 percent and the United Arab Emirates States with 5.1 percent.
The National Statistics Institute also reported that in the third quarter Angola imported machinery, equipment and apparatus (23.7 percent), vehicles and other transport equipment (12.3 percent), base metals (11.3 percent), fuel (5.6 percent) and food (5.5 percent).
Overall, Angola exported goods (oil and diamonds) worth 1.51 trillion kwanzas, down 11 percent on 2013 and imported goods in the value 1.16 billion kwanza (76.1 percent more) , generating a trade surplus of 345.4 billion kwanza, 66.7 percent less than in the same period of 2013. MDT/Macauhub
