Chui Sai On and other guests visit the exhibition of achievements on the 10th anniversary of the high level Forum

The Chief Executive Chui Sai On said at the High-level Forum of the 10th Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation and Development Forum that the Macau government will consider hosting more workshops for cities in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) so that they better understand Macau’s role as the platform for China and the Portuguese-
speaking countries (PLP).
The High-level Forum took place yesterday afternoon in Guangzhou. During his speech, Chui Sai On said that, following the success of the workshop held earlier in the year, the Macau government is considering organizing regular activities catered for PPRD participants to gain a better understanding of development opportunities provided through Macau.
“We are considering gradually regularizing [the workshop] in order to provide targeted services to all parties in the PPRD to gain a deeper understanding of the development opportunities [Macau] can provide”, the CE said.
Moreover, Mr Chui said the Macau government will continue strengthen the SAR’s integrated competitiveness in tourism by optimizing multi-destination tours to share international tourist sources, enhance promotion of innovative regional tourism in the international market, improve tourism service quality, and deepen mutual complement in tourism between sister provinces and regions.
The CE also suggested that one of Macau’s most important missions was to establish a business and trade services platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. In order to achieve this, the Macau administration has been implementing various plans.
These include preparations to establish an interactive and information-sharing platform to facilitate co-operation and exchanges between enterprises and bilingual speakers in China and the PLP; Organizing more delegations of PPRD and Macau entrepreneurs to visit and invest in PLP; Supporting and facilitating tourism co-operation between the mainland and the PLP, and promoting development of tourism businesses with each other; making improvements in organizing exhibitions at international and national levels, and rendering support to enterprises from the PPRD provinces and regions and the PLP; as well as considering ways to assist mainland enterprises, under the national policies and the principles of market operation, to establish overseas economic and trade co-operation zones in PLP.
Chui Sai On will be attending the Joint Conference of Chief Executives this morning and will return to Macau in the afternoon. JPL
