MGM donated MOP300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop project, financing the distribution of food hampers to more than 360 local disadvantaged households. According to a statement issued yesterday by the gaming operator, MGM has contributed a total of MOP1.7 million to the project over the past six years, benefiting nearly 2,000 households.
On Saturday, MGM’s senior executives led a volunteer team on a visit to the Welfare Shop, where they were warmly received by António José de Freitas, President of the Board of Trustees of Macau Holy House of Mercy.
Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, presented the donation check to António Freitas as well as Ng Siu Lai, President of Board of Directors of General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, and Leong Iok Wa, President of Board of Supervisors of Macau Federation of Trade Unions.
More than 30 Golden Lion volunteers took part in packing daily necessities, such as rice, noodles, canned food, oatmeal and cooking oil, into MGM’s tailor-made eco-friendly hampers. These hampers were distributed to disadvantaged households listed by the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, Associação dos Familiares Encarregados dos Deficientes Mentais de Macau and the Holy House of Mercy.
Hong Kong’s first adult-themed carnival 18+central concluded
Hong Kong’s first adult-themed carnival, 18+ Central, took place between last Thursday and Sunday. According to the organizers, the event attracted 13,000 visitors, “exceeding the number of first Asia Entertainment Expo (AEE) held by the organizer in Macau.”
The attendance figures released indicate that the majority of the 18+ Central visitors were young couples and groups of frien scs, over 70 percent of which were female aged between 25 and 35. Apart from local visitors, the event also drew overseas tourists, which made up 30 percent of the total audience.
A press release issued yesterday notes that one of the performing groups, Badboys Australia, also performed at the AEE event in Macau. They stated that “the female crowd in Hong Kong [is] much more passionate than those in Macau, even comparable with those in Australia.”
Other attractions included bondage master Shin Nawakiri from Taiwan and the ‘Naked Painter’ Pricasso.
Regine Lau, project manager of 18+ Central, stated that most of the visitors, especially females, apparently found the show entertaining and enjoyable. This reinforces the assumption that Hong Kong lacks large-scale adult entertainment targeting female audiences, Lau added. The organizers intend to hold the event again next year.
