For the eighth consecutive year, MGM participated in the Energy Saving Week organized by the Office for the Development of the Energy Sector (GDSE). This year’s event took place between June 10 and June 16.
The gaming operator joined the “Lights-Off” action organized by the GDSE as one of the highlights of the “Macau Energy Saving Week 2018” and participated in the “Casual Wear Day,” encouraging members to wear cooler clothing to keep air-conditioning at lower levels.
To raise awareness about energy conservation within the company, MGM also hosted a series of activities during the Energy Saving Week 2018, the company said in a statement.
The kick-off event was the Interdepartmental Energy Saving Champion Competition in which each department was asked to submit ideas on how to reduce energy consumption in their own context and participated in a quiz about the general awareness of energy saving.
CEM holds seminar on smart energy
CEM recently held the “Smart City Smart Energy” seminar at its premises, hoping to deepen the knowledge of its personnel in the field of smart energy, the electrical company announced in a statement.
The company said that it is currently formulating medium and long-term development strategies, and that it hopes to broaden employees’ perspectives through training.
Professor Yonghua Song, rector of University of Macau (UMAC), was the guest speaker of the seminar, as he has long been engaged in electrical power system research.
During the seminar, the rector discussed opportunities and solutions for the power grid.
He gave an introduction to the background for promoting EVs and charging facilities, followed by discussion on the potential of EVs as flexible resources.
He also proposed related plans to develop an EV charging network and photovoltaic system, and smart charging at different levels, suggesting that the interactions between smart energy and intelligent traffic will be the developmental direction of smart cities in the future.
