Elderly falls victim to Whatsapp scam

Police have received another report that an elderly woman has been defrauded of MOP282,000 after falling victim to a fake lottery scam. The victim’s bank alerted her of abnormal usage on her credit card and she discovered she had been defrauded. The victim allegedly received a message from her former colleague on Whatsapp last week requesting credit card and bank account details to receive a bonus of HKD2,000.
