The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has announced that the election process will begin today, with voters submitting nomination forms until July 2.
The Chief Executive Election Committee will be responsible for nominating and electing the Chief Executive.
Election Day is set for August 11, 2024, as announced by Song Man Lei, the chairman of the Chief Executive’s Election Committee.
Polling stations will be set up at the Macau Polytechnic University Sports Pavilion, the Macau Forum, and the Luso-Chinese Technical-Professional School – the same venues used five years ago.
Song also revealed that this year’s election will use electronic voting in an effort to increase accuracy and efficiency at the polls.
As the government prepares for this event, the committee has pledged that it remains committed to upholding the principles of ‘One country, two systems’ and ensuring the continued prosperity and stability of the Macau SAR. Staff Reporter
