TDM Portuguese and English News and Program Controller Joao Francisco Pinto confirmed to the Times he will step down from the position on Apr. 1, and that he will stay with TDM. “I [spent] six years as head of the news department, plus 19 at the current position (TV and radio controller). It was time for me to step down from my position and work in TDM in other capacities and in projects to be discussed with the next director,” Pinto said. TDM’s current Deputy News Controller Gilberto Lopes, who joined TDM back in 1998, and became head of the Radio News Department in 2000, will replace Pinto, according to media outlet Plataforma.
