First 2024 Macau baby born at midnight
The city welcomed its first baby of the year at midnight on New Year’s Day. The baby, a girl, was born by caesarean delivery at the public hospital, weighing 2.75 kg. She is the first child of her parents. Nearly two hours later, a baby boy weighing 3.2 kg was born at the private Kiang Wu Hospital at 1:56 a.m. He is the second child in the family. Last year, there were 3,726 new babies in Macau, down 15% compared to the previous year.
