Under the patronage and direction of the local tourism board, Galaxy Macau unveiled a series of events to celebrate Macau’s position as UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
Branded as Tastes of Macau, Artisans of Flavors, the series revolves around eight distinguished chefs, three sommeliers and a mixologist with the resort operator. Most of these chefs are award-winning professionals. They have either Michelin or Forbes stars under their belts.
The events commenced with a series of videos at an exclusive media dinner on Tuesday. The dinner featured the work of the 12 gastronomic professionals, presented against the backdrop of the videos, each telling the story of one of the professionals and how they interpret food as a type of art.
In his speech, Ricky Hoi, deputy director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), pointed out that the MGTO has spared no effort in promoting Macau as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and is constantly deepening the cross-disciplinary integration of tourism and gastronomy.
He added that the MGTO is pleased to see Galaxy Entertainment Group, while promoting Macau as a tourism destination, possessing a list of restaurants that garner international accolades and recognition.
Raymond Yap Yin Min, senior director – integrated resort services of Galaxy, pointed out that gourmet dining has become an essential tourist attraction for the region. “We remain committed to collaborate with the Government of Macau to enrich the city’s reputation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy,” said Yap.
Galaxy will run special set menus to celebrate the campaign. AL
