The Greater Bay Area Industry-Academia Forum was recently held with aims to promote understanding of biodiversity accounting and ecotourism, raise awareness of biodiversity conservation and explore new directions for developing in Macau and the Greater Bay Area.
Titled “Biodiversity Accounting, Sustainability and Ecotourism: Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”, the forum was jointly organized by the Macau Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility in Greater China (MICSRGC) and Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM).
The forum also provided a platform for communication and discussion for participants from various sectors to promote cooperation and development in the field of regional ecological environmental protection.
Sandy Sio, president of the Administrative Council of the MICSRGC, said in her opening speech, “Through this forum, the institute aims to create a platform for delegates from various sectors to discuss on the possibilities of launching biodiversity accounting, ecotourism and ecological civilization for supporting the aforementioned initiatives, and for achieving the sustainable development goals in Macau and the Greater Bay Area.”
The forum combined the three elements of industry, academia, and research, and invited experts and scholars from the biodiversity accwounting and ecotourism fields, representatives from relevant government departments.
Connie Loi, vice president of IFTM, said “There is an urgent need for collaborative forces from the industry, academia and research sectors to put forth the development of biodiversity and ecotourism.” Staff Reporter
