In 2024, Guangdong Province is set to dramatically enhance its transportation infrastructure with an investment exceeding 350 billion RMB. This ambitious plan, unveiled at a Department of Transport work conference, focuses on expanding and improving roads, waterways, and railways. A significant portion, over 230 billion RMB, will be allocated towards extending 48 expressways by around 1,927 kilometers. Key projects include the completion of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and upgrades to major expressways to alleviate congestion. Additionally, the province aims to elevate its railway network by investing RMB120 billion in constructing nine high-speed railways, including the Meizhou-Longchuan and Xintang-Baiyun-Guangzhou North Intercity lines. Efforts will also be made to enhance service areas, integrating functions such as tourism and commercial trading, to support the region’s development goals. This initiative follows a year of significant growth in Guangdong’s transportation network, highlighting its continued leadership in China’s infrastructure development.
