Last week, “An Exquisite Night of World-Class Bordeaux Wines” took place at Wynn Macau, bringing in 24 top wineries from Bordeaux to Macao. The event involved the most prestigious wineries, including Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Brane Cantenac, Château Montrose, Château Cos d’Estournel, Château Lynch-Bages, Château Grand Puy Lacoste, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Château Client and more. The extravagant event presented the best collections imported directly from Bordeaux, granting guests an opportunity to not only meet representatives, experts and owners from the 24 participating wineries but also learn about the profiles of the exquisite fine wines.

The two-day event offered an array of fascinating activities, including a Bordeaux Wine Masterclass, a Bordeaux Wine Gala Dinner curated by the outstanding culinary team, and a walkaround wine tasting. Additionally, wine aficionados indulged in an exquisite Baron Philippe de Rothschild wine pairing lunch prepared by Executive Chef Henry Zhang of Drunken Fish, the brand-new seafood restaurant at Wynn Macau, featuring a selection of dishes that pair perfectly with horizontal Year of the Dragon vintage 2012 selection including Château Mouton Rothschild under the group.

Jennifer Docherty MW hosted the wine masterclass. She became the first Chinese-born and Chinese-speaking Master of Wine in the world in 2015. With extensive experience in the wine industry over the past 16 years, she was involved in the sourcing, selling and trading of fine wines for companies in the UK, Hong Kong and China. She is also an expert in Japanese sake and a judge for the International Wine Challenge Sake Competition held in London every year. In this masterclass, she shared her insights on a wide range of red and white Bordeaux wines and discuss two key topics in depth: “White Wine Excellence: A Deep Dive into Bordeaux Blanc”,an introduction to the style and variety of Bordeaux white wines; and “Climate Change through the Lens of Bordeaux Vintages”, a deep dive into the impact of global warming in Bordeaux with reds.

Highlight came when Executive Chef Chan Tak Kwong of the two MICHELIN-starred Wing Lei Cantonese restaurant at Wynn Macau and Executive Chef Helder Sequeira Amaral of the Forbes Five-Star SW Steakhouse at Wynn Palace teamed up to present an exquisite menu paired with a variety of premium Bordeaux fine wines, including Baron de Brane Blanc 2023, Château Tronquoy Lalande 2014, Château Lynch-Bages 2010, Château Clinet 2015, and Château Coutet 2016, etc. Guests again had the opportunity to engage with representatives from Bordeaux wineries and explore the collection of magnums at the tasting counter featuring 18 renowned French Bordeaux fine wines – it was definitely a must-go for wine lovers.
