Labor Bureau starts training of 30 inspectors

The Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL) kicked-off a one-year training course which aims to train new inspectors for the department.

According to a DSAL statement, the course, organized by DSAL will also involve the participation of the Juridical and Judicial Training Centre (CFJJ) and the Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST).
In her speech, the deputy director of DSAL, Ng Wai Han, called on trainee inspectors to fully engage in their learning in order to master the professional skills needed to serve the people, a task with a high sense of responsibility. She asked the trainees to continue their mission in the future by effectively addressing and solving labor issues.
The course content focuses on legal knowledge regarding the field of work, the procedures and techniques in the conciliation and treatment of cases, the English language and other working practice subjects. Through recruitment and testing, DSAL selected the 30 best-performing applicants to be trained in the inspectors’ course, which will consist of theory training for six months, followed by practical training in the DSAL for the same period. After a final examination, the 12 most accomplished trainee inspectors will move into full-time work at the bureau.

Some of the duties of DSAL inspectors include reconciliation on labor disputes, investigation of work accidents, inspection visits to workplaces, and combatting illegal work.
