MPlus Sports Media Company Limited (M Plus) has partnered with Macau Cable Television (MCTV) to expand local football coverage, including live broadcasts of England’s Premier League (EPL) and other top European leagues.
The partnership aims to bring more top-tier football content to Macau viewers through multiple MCTV channels and M Plus’s streaming app, enhancing sports entertainment options across the city.
In a press conference yesterday at Grand Lisboa, Alan Yung, vice president for strategic partnerships of M Plus, unveiled the strategic partnership, noting that it aims to ensure local audiences can enjoy access to broad top-tier football competitions.
The new collaboration between M Plus and MCTV will include football coverage on MCTV Channels 34, 35, 36, and 37, with the last two being dedicated channels to the EPL.
The channels will broadcast 24/7 live sports events for M Plus, with match coverage and professional commentary in English and Cantonese for selected events.
Yung also noted that M Plus will continue to drive technological innovation and actively introduce more top-tier international sports events, providing Macau audiences with top-tier, immersive viewing experiences anytime, anywhere, as all sports broadcasts will be available through M Plus’s dedicated streaming mobile application.
As announced by the same official, in addition to matches from the EPL and FA Cup, the coverage available on MCTV will include matches from several other European leagues, such as the German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga.
At the press conference, John Chiang from MCTV said the cable provider is honored to partner with M Plus to expand its sports entertainment offering in Macau.
Chiang noted that the company has always been interested in local and international soccer matches and remarked that the two companies have been cooperating very fruitfully for the past five years.
“Every year, we broadcast more than 1,000 matches together,” Chiang mentioned.
At the same time, Harry Lan, Chief Betting Officer at MacauSLOT, noted the growing popularity of sports betting in Macau and the benefit that live broadcasting can have on the development of the business and general entertainment.
Lan remarked that MacauSLOT has been committed to giving back to the community and has actively supported the healthy development of Macau’s various industries.
“We believe that the booming of media and entertainment industries will continue to grow and prosper. We are convinced that enhancing a thriving media and entertainment industry is crucial to Macau citizens’ quality of life and culture,” he said, noting that the partnership with MCTV provides added value to the business and the people.
In addition to live matches broadcast through the M Plus app, various supporting content will be provided, including real-time news and updates and post-match analysis.
As the Times first unveiled last week, M Plus will have exclusive broadcasting rights for EPL and FA Cup matches from the three seasons starting in 2025/2026.
Yung also added that the FA Cup matches will be broadcast via the M Plus app starting with the third round and continuing until the final.
M Plus also expands its coverage of the Bundesliga, including matches of the German Supercup and more.
Concurrently, he unveiled a collaboration with a list of hotels, restaurants, bars, and other food and beverage establishments that will use M Plus to screen sports events. During this collaboration, Yung remarked that a series of promotions and discounts are being prepared for specific events, inviting fans to watch the company’s social media platform for more detailed information.
Among these partners are Regency Art Hotel, Lisboeta, H853 Fun Factory, L’Arc Macau, Ponte 16 and MJ Café, Artyzen Grand Lapa and Grand Coloane Resort, Moon On Planet, Mini Bar, The Roadhouse Macau, and many others.
