A local delegation of 50 people is participating in the “Macau – Cambodia Investment & Tourism Development Seminar” held in Phnom Penh.
Local business leaders from tourism, banking, trade and other industries exchanged and discussed ideas with the Cambodian business community, with the aim of laying the ground for future investment projects to grow, said the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam in his speech yesterday.
The seminar featured presentations by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) as well as the Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
IPIM discussed the role that the MSAR is playing as the Service Platform for Commerce and Trade between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, while MGTO presented an outline on the works the city has been doing to position itself as the “World Center of Tourism and Leisure” destination.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the MSAR’s secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia was also made during the seminar, marking the beginning of cooperation in the area of tourism training and education.
Tam revealed that an intensive training program will be held in June at the Institute for Tourism Studies for a group of Cambodian heritage tour guides and officials from the Authority for the Protection of the Site and Management of the Region of Angkor.
This will be the first course to be delivered since the Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training was set up in the region in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization in October last year.
