Macau and Hengqin are hosting an Indonesian delegation this week to explore the practical operations and opportunities of the newly implemented 10-day visa-free transit policy, which aims to facilitate multi-destination tourism in the Greater Bay Area.
The National Immigration Administration has designated Hengqin Port in Zhuhai and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge as entry points for the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy, effective November 5.
In line with the new measure, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), together with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, invited ten representatives from 10 Indonesian Travel Agents Association (ASTINDO) for a five-day familiarization trip from December 14 until today.
The delegation, flying directly from Jakarta via Air Macau, visited key tourism facilities in Macau, including the Historic Centre of Macau, Macau Grand Prix Museum, MinMPlaza, Hotel Central, and W Hotel at Studio City. They also experienced cultural and entertainment offerings such as “Light up Macao 2025,” “Macau 2049,” teamLab SuperNature Macau, open-top bus tours, Portuguese egg tart baking, and a range of Halal, Chinese, and Macanese cuisine.
Following the Macau itinerary, the delegation crossed Hengqin Port into the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone.
Activities included visits to Chimelong Resort’s Ocean Kingdom and Chimelong Spaceship, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Experience Museum, Sumlodol Camping Town, and various hotels.
During the first 10 months of 2025, Macau received 163,475 visitors from Indonesia, a 15.5% increase from the same period last year. Indonesia is currently Macau’s sixth-largest source market. Ricaela Diputado
