Melco launches culinary program with DSAL, IFTM

Melco Resorts & Entertainment announces the launch of its Culinary Foundation Acceleration Program (Melco Culinary FAP), Macau’s first culinary program of its kind in collaboration with Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM).
According to a statement, Melco Culinary FAP is designed to nurture “Macau residents to enhance interest and commitment to the local culinary industry.”
“This is a culinary development training program dedicated to local talent—providing a variety of learning opportunities for the enhancement of vocational skills and career progression opportunities,” it read.
Over 56,000 participants have benefited from the company’s Foundation Acceleration Program since it was launched in 2014, 97% of whom were local talent. Also, notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 8% of all local culinary colleagues received job promotions since 2020, more than 70% of whom were promoted during FAP training.
