More CCTV cameras go into operation

The second and third phases of CCTV surveillance cameras officially started operations on Saturday, according to a dispatch released in the Official Gazette.  In total, 601 new cameras were put into operation. On Saturday, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak visited the control center of the CCTV surveillance system, where he underlined the beneficial results of the police work that resulted from the first phase of CCTV surveillance cameras.  Wong pointed out that the new cameras symbolize the extension of the monitoring system coverage to different districts in town.   

Mother charged for beating infant

A mainland resident has been arrested for conducting corporal punishment on her three-year-old son. The case was reported to the police force by the boy’s kindergarten. According to police information, the wound was discovered by a hospital doctor after the boy’s teacher took him to a hospital following the boy telling his teacher he was not feeling well.  The mother, who holds a family visit visa, said she punished her son because he did not behave well in class. Such instances of physical abuse occurred more than once, police revealed.
