“Regional Market Integration of the GBA in the Field of Cross-border Investment: Might China be Inspired by the EU?”
Dan Wei, Hong Ling Ning

Manchester Journal of international Economic Law (2023)

This paper explores the integration of regional markets in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and draws parallels with the European Union’s approach to cross-border investment.

It analyzes the challenges and potential solutions China might adopt from EU frameworks to improve coordination and market efficiency across jurisdictions within the GBA.

The study suggests that the EU’s legal and regulatory models could serve as a valuable blueprint, particularly in balancing regional autonomy with central oversight. Emphasizing regulatory harmonization, the paper argues that China could foster greater economic cohesion in the GBA, leveraging lessons from the EU’s integration experience.
