Sands China Ltd. is donating 500,000 medical facemasks to the local government as part of the company’s pledge to support the SAR’s efforts to combat the novel coronavirus.
Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U accepted the first batch of 300,000 facemasks on behalf of the government yesterday at The Parisian Macao, the gaming operator announced in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the entire local community during this time of caution, and our company is pleased to be able to respond to the urgent need for facemasks in Macau as we cooperate with the Macau government in its virus prevention efforts,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd.
Alongside frequent and proper handwashing, doctors and medical agencies around the world have stressed the importance of wearing facemasks as a vital and easy-to-implement measure to diminish the spread of the novel coronavirus and to protect oneself and others against infection.
