The Summer Sports Carnival, hosted by the Sports Bureau (ID), will return once again this year with a series of athletic activities to take place on Sunday, July 2, the ID announced yesterday in a press conference.
This year the event will invite sports bureaus and departments from different cities within the Greater Bay Area to form teams to compete in Macau, ID officials said.
The event has been said to be a way of encouraging younger people to participate in sports through competitions as a way to improve their physical fitness and cultivate team spirit.
The event will take place at the hockey field of Taipa Olympic Sports Center. Team registrations are now open. Team members must be aged between 15 and 50 years old.
The total number of participating teams is 70 and is expected to attract over 400 participants. RM
