The incidence rate of tuberculosis in Macau has continued to decline in the past 20 years, from 109.1 per 100,000 population in 1998 to 44.4 per 100,000 population in 2022, a decrease of 59.3%, with an annual decline rate of about 4%. According to the Health Bureau, the success rate of tuberculosis treatment in Macau has been maintained at a relatively high level. In the past 20 years, the treatment success rate has averaged 94.4%, far exceeding the World Health Organization’s requirement of 85%. The local multi-drug resistance rate is on average 2.1%.
